Chinese consumer electronics company Xiaomi has revealed the world’s first mass-produced transparent TV, the Mi TV LUX Transparent Edition. The TV enchanted everyone during Xiaomi’s 10-year anniversary event with its graceful and minimal outer, flagship configurations, but most of all the ultra-thin display which features an edge-to-edge transparent self-luminous design. Images appear suspended in the air and when turned off, the TV stands as just a transparent piece of glass.

Reinventing the way TVs are traditionally designed, the Mi TV LUX Transparent Edition houses all of its processing units in its base stand. The transparent OLED panel features a 150000:1 static contrast ratio and an infinite dynamic contrast ratio, offering extra rich blacks and unmatched brightness. Leveraging its DCI-P3 93% color spectrum support, the 10-bit panel displays 1.07 billion color combination which is far beyond what the human eye can perceive. Additionally, the 120Hz refresh rate and 120Hz MEMC technology ensure a 1ms fast response rate that provides a low latency smoother and clearer motion representation.

Reasonably priced at ¥50,000 RMB (approximately $7,195 USD), Xiaomi’s Mi TV LUX Transparent Edition is set to officially release August 16.
